We’re Ryan and Jess Thomas, the visionaries of Campground Island. In late 2021, we discovered what one guest lovingly called “the most beautiful dump”—a forgotten, overgrown piece of land that had once been a thriving campground. But we saw something else: potential, beauty, and a chance to build something lasting for our family and community. So with the support of Ryan’s parents, Greg and Trich Thomas—who believed in our vision from day one and partnered with us in the acquisition—we got to work! We’ve spent every season since pouring our time, sweat, and heart into restoring this land—clearing brush, updating utilities, and welcoming campers who feel more like guests in our home.
